Applicants sought for San Antonio TechStars Cloud Program

Rackspace Hosting and TechStars are now accepting applications from companies that are interested in joining TechStars Cloud.

TechStars Cloud is the first accelerator program to focus on building cloud technology companies in San Antonio. The call for applications for the first round of startups is now open until Nov. 2. Entrepreneurs chosen to participate in the program will live in San Antonio from January to April 2012 and will receive free office space at the Weston Center. The new startups will bring them innovation, jobs and startups to Central Texas. Applications will be taken from individuals around the country.

Rackspace executives Pan Condon, Pat Matthews, Jonathan Bryce, John Engates, Lew Moorman and Graham Weston will serve as mentors to the TechStars Cloud participants.

“We are particularly interested in companies building on or extending OpenStack, OpenFlow, OpenCompute, as well as those building security applications, hosting services, datacenter automation, big data tools and dev ops,” says Jason Seats, head of the TechStars Cloud. “We have big expectations for the results we’ll see when we connect early stage cloud startups to the best cloud mentors and companies.”

Those who are interested in applying should visit the TechStars link by Oct. 21 to receive priority consideration. The final application deadline of Nov. 2.
